Chandigarh University's Arjun Babuta has been selected to represent India in the Paris Olympics 2024. Babuta will compete in the 10 Meter Air Rifle Men's and 10 Meter Air Rifle Mixed Team events, marking a significant achievement for both the university and the country.

Arjun Babuta, an Indian sport shooter from Chandigarh, has been a member of the Indian Shooting Team since 2016. Specializing in the 10-meter air rifle events, Babuta has been supported by the Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ), an organization dedicated to nurturing talent and promoting excellence in sports.


Babuta's competitive career began with notable performances at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2016 in Suhl and Gabala, where he secured a gold and a bronze medal. His prowess was further demonstrated at the ISSF Junior World Championship 2017 in Suhl and the ISSF Junior World Cup 2018 in Sydney, where he won a bronze medal.

In addition to his success in junior competitions, Babuta has also achieved significant milestones in senior events. He won a silver medal at the 10th Asian Airgun Championship in Wako City, Japan, and another silver at the 27th Meeting of Shooting Hopes 2017 in Plzen, Czech Republic. His consistent performance has established him as a prominent figure in the sport.


Babuta's recent accomplishment at the 2023 Asian Shooting Championships in Changwon was particularly noteworthy. He secured a silver medal in the 10-meter Air Rifle event, earning India a quota place for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. This victory solidified Babuta's position as one of the top shooters representing the nation on the global stage.

 Chandigarh University now has the highest number of ABET accredited engineering courses among private universities in the country Chandigarh University (CU), Gharuan, has earned the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) recognition for its nine engineering programmes. Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu claimed that CU now has the highest number of ABET accredited engineering courses among private universities in the country. Honorable Chancellor, S. Satnam Singh Sandhu added that ABET, a premier global accreditation organisation for engineering and engineering technology programmes, is considered as evidence of an engineering programme’s standards.
