Why you should pursue a career in Forensic Science?

What is Forensic Science?

A highly interdisciplinary subject, Forensic Science applies the knowledge of science to the definition and enforcement of laws. It is also referred to as criminalistics, where physical evidence produced by criminal activity is collected, analysed and interpreted. Often considered a branch of law enforcement, Forensic Science is not really a part of law enforcement but involves various scientific disciplines such as biology, chemistry and physics.

However, Forensic Science does play a crucial role in criminal and civil law. The prime objectives of a forensic scientist are to examine the presented physical evidence, generate results and testify in a court of law for the same. Also, accurate laboratory testing is vital to monitor compliance with laws.

A degree in Forensic Science trains students on how to collect, store, and analyse all types of evidence. The course offers extensive practical training with equal emphasis on the theoretical part, which teaches various investigation principles, tools and techniques employed during a criminal investigation.
