Why Pursue BSC BioChemistry at Chandigarh University

What is Biochemistry?

The bridge between biology and chemistry, Biochemistry is fundamental to all biological processes and is practiced within the wide range of biological fields. Biochemistry links various fields in Life Sciences like Agricultural Science, Veterinary Medicine, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Human Medicine, etc. has great potentials and high prospects.

Having emerged as a distinct discipline with the combination of Chemistry, Physiology and Biology, Biochemistry was introduced around the beginning of the 20th century while investigating the chemistry of living systems.

Presently, Biochemistry is regarded as the foundation for understanding all biological processes. A practical science, Biochemistry has helped generate explanations behind the causes of many diseases in humans, animals, and plants and has frequently suggested ways to treat or overcome the disease.

B.Sc. Biochemistry (Hons) at Chandigarh University

Biochemistry has an ever-increasing scope as the methods and knowledge of the Biochemists is applied in all the fields of medicine, in agriculture and many health or chemical related industries. A Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry promotes the appreciation and understanding of how the living systems operate, survive and die by studying the structures and functions of biomolecules, which includes the energetics, interactions, regulation and downstream signaling of biochemical pathways - and comparing pathways from different species and organisms.

The B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biochemistry at NAAC A+ Chandigarh University focuses on imparting modern biochemical practical skills, independent thinking and critical analysis through an industry-aligned curriculum. The course emphasizes the future progress in Biochemistry by working on developing new products, solving emerging biological problems, or tackling diseases.
