What is NBA?
Established by the AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) under section 10(u) of AICTE Act, in the year 1994, the NBA or National Board of Accreditation (NBA), India assesses the qualitative competence of the programs offered by the HEI’s from diploma level to post-graduate level in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy Management, Architecture and related disciplines approved by AICTE. Since 2010, NBA incorporated into an independent autonomous body. The NBA, over the period of its active functioning, has introduced several new parameters, processes and criteria for accreditation. The newly introduced parameters are in line with the best international practices and are oriented to assess the outcomes of the program.
The National Board of Accreditation is another major body, apart from the NAAC, responsible for the accreditation of higher education institutions in India. Some of the major objectives of the NBA include assessing and accrediting the Technical Education Programs. Also, the national regulatory body works to evolve standards and parameters for assessment and accreditation in line with the parameters laid down by the appropriate statutory regulatory authority for determination, coordination and regulation of standards in the respective technical education field.
