Celebrating 10 years of making dreams come true; Celebrating CU’s 10th Foundation Day!

Jul 10, 2021 marks the 10th Foundation Day of NAAC A+ Chandigarh University 

One of the leading higher education institutions in the country, Chandigarh University has completed a decade of imparting modern education. Situated in the vicinity of the “City Beautiful” Chandigarh, the varsity has been playing a key role in redefining higher education with immense international and industry exposure since 2011. Over the years, CU has earned accreditations and recognitions from the highest regulatory bodies in the country and abroad.

The university’s persistence in maintaining the quality standards in education has enabled the students to secure jobs in Fortune 500 companies and even initiate their start-ups with CU’s Technology Business Incubators. From filing over 1000 patents to launching its Satellite, let’s take a look back at ten things CU has accomplished in the last 10 years.

1.NAAC Accreditation: Placed amongst the Top 5% HEI’s to be accredited with NAAC’s prestigious A+ Grade, Chandigarh University has been the youngest private university in the country to receive the grade. The varsity secured 3.28 CGPA on a four-point scale for maintaining top standards in delivering and disseminating quality education to its students.

2.NBA Accreditation: Along with securing top NIRF rankings in the region, Chandigarh University is also the only Private University in Punjab to offer NBA Accredited Programs. The National Board of Accreditation has accredited the university for its Engineering programs in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics & Communication Engineering and MBA. Apart from it, CU has been recognized by various other bodies such as AICTE, The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Computer Society of India, the Bar Council of India, and many more. 

3.International Tie-ups: Chandigarh University has been at the forefront in providing international exposure and forging international partnerships with higher education institutions and industry. Over the years, CU has forged 308+ international tie-ups with institutions that facilitate international exposure through programs such as Study Abroad, Articulation, Semester Exchange, Foreign Internships, etc. Furthermore, the international collaborations also provide the students with opportunities to learn from renowned global academicians at the campus. Apart from it, the varsity’s alliances amplify a student’s potential for global professional and academic opportunities, which has been witnessed over the years. 

4.CUSaT: Chandigarh University in line with ISRO’s Visionary Initiative of the establishment of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe), has been in the process of building the Nano-Satellite named Chandigarh University Satellite (CUsat). Under this student satellite program, CU students have been designing a multipurpose Nano Satellite, which will be launched in space by ISRO. This rigorous program by the varsity provides the students with the opportunity to work closely with renowned ISRO scientists and engineers on cutting-edge research. The first-of-its-kind training program introduced by Chandigarh University has been vital in elevating the interest of students towards a rewarding career in space technology. 

5.Radio Punjab 90.0: Undertaking another student-centric initiative, Chandigarh University established its Radio platform at the varsity campus. Playing at the frequency of 90.0, CU’s Radio Punjab engages the audience from around the region with exciting daily and weekly shows. Some of the shows running successfully at Radio Punjab are Nawi Saver, CU Di Geddi, Dil Diyan Gallan, Fit Gallan Hit Gaane, etc. CU’s exclusive radio station, Radio Punjab has hosted several renowned personalities. 

6.QS IGauge:  QS I-GAUGE is a unique rating system that incorporates the global experience, expertise, and reputation of UK based QS, along with deep local knowledge of luminaries from Indian higher education. With the evaluation based on seven parameters, namely Faculty Quality, Facilities, Employability, Social Responsibility, Student Diversity, Innovation, Teaching and Learning, the QS I•GAUGE has accredited Chandigarh University with the Diamond rating in all these categories. With this, Chandigarh University became the first-ever university to receive the Diamond Rating in all primary categories. 

7.Placements: Adjudged as the ‘University with Best Placements’ by WCRC, CU has established itself as one of the leaders in campus placements. A Limca Book Record Holder for bringing the highest number of companies to campus for placements, CU is known for its Joint Placement Drive that helps students from other institutions to secure placements. The varsity has been a preferred destination for top MNC’s such as Microsoft, Walt Disney, Amazon, Deloitte, Infosys, Google, IBM and many more. Even during the pandemic, the varsity generated over 7412 placement offers from 757 MNC’s with the highest package offered at Rs. 36 Lacs.  

8.Sports & AIU Achievements: Since its inception, Chandigarh University has strived to participate in every state, national and international tournament or event. The institution has made its mark in both individual and team sports. CU has been a second home to International Medal-Winning Rowing Player, Rugby Player, budding sports stars such as Vaibhav Arora (IPL Player), Paralympics Player Aruna Tanwar (India’s first para-athlete at Tokyo Paralympics) and many others who have made the university and country proud. CU has been consistently upgrading the sports infrastructure & facilities which have brought greater returns over time. For instance, in the year 2019, CU secured 90 Medals and brought home the All India Inter-University Championship Trophy. 

9.Patents: Ranked #1 single institution by Indian Government's Patent General Controller department in the filing of Patents, Chandigarh University, in a short span of 10 years, has moved up the ladder and has been recognized for filing over 1000+ Patents. The university incorporates numerous Labs that gives our entrepreneurs a platform to work with the ease of technology. The Patents have been filed from almost every department of the University including Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Communication dept., Computer Science, Civil Engineering, MBA, UIPS and many more.  

10.Technology Business Incubator (TBI): Chandigarh University focuses and promotes the culture of 'Creating Jobs' by stimulating and nurturing inquisitive minds to shape their ideas in actual businesses. With the establishment of TBI (Technology Business Incubator), CU-TBI has 100+ Startups and 12 pass-out Startups that are running successfully. TBI facilitates and supports selected innovative ideas across all disciplines and turn them into valuable business propositions.
