National Conference AERA 2015

Department of Electrical Engineering of Chandigarh University organized National Conference on Advancements in Alternate Energy Resources for Rural Applications (AERA-2015) Sponsored by DST on 28th August 2015. 


The Chief Guest of the Event was Er. Jotinder Singh, Consultant, Vedanta Group (Retired Chief Engineer, PSPCL) discussed the Importance of Renewable Energy Sources on Utility. He also stated that Punjab was the first state who achieved a milestone of Rural Electrification.

He Emphasised that Punjab won the Award in field of Renewable Energy By Hon'ble  Minister Majithia due to Remarkable Achievement in field of Solar Energy. He stated that Most of Energy generated by Conventional Sources but now there is a need to find alternate sources for generating Electricity (Specially Rural). 

The Guest of Honour was Dr. Reddy, IIT, Ropar who emphasise the importance of Experiments to find research latest techniques to find possible Solutions to mitigate problem of increasing demand of electricity by 2050.



Er. Jotinder Singh , Dr. Reddy released the Proceedings of Conference with ISBN number and declare the conference along with Vice Chancellor Dr. R.S.Bawa, Director, Enginnering Dr. Gurdeep Singh and Head of Department, Dr. Inderpreet Kaur. 

There were four Technical Sessions along with Poster Sessions chaired by Experts from PEC, NIT & SlIET Longowal. 



There were total 73 papers published in a proceeding having participants from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu ,Punjab, Delhi ,Maharashatra, Telagana ,Tamil Nadu & Gujarat.

The response was over whelming.

9 Engineering courses at Chandigarh University get ABET accreditation

 Chandigarh University now has the highest number of ABET accredited engineering courses among private universities in the country Chandigarh University (CU), Gharuan, has earned the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) recognition for its nine engineering programmes. Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu claimed that CU now has the highest number of ABET accredited engineering courses among private universities in the country. Honorable Chancellor, S. Satnam Singh Sandhu added that ABET, a premier global accreditation organisation for engineering and engineering technology programmes, is considered as evidence of an engineering programme’s standards.
