CU Gharuan Student choosen as Google Student Ambassador

Garima Bhandari, a computer science engineering student of Chandigarh University Gharuan has been selected by Google as Student Ambassador under the innovative Google Student Ambassador Program. World’s leading Software and Internet Technology giant, Google launched the flagship Google Student Ambassador Program with a mission to make future engineers updated about the various technology advances made in the field of Information Technology and Internet.

Belonging to Ludhiana and studying at Chandigarh University, Garima attained this fete after passing through rigorous selection process  that comprised of brainstorming sessions, pre-summit tasks, making video resume and finding references for her candidature. A total of 2000 students from 168 colleges like IIT’s, NIT’s, BITS Pilani and other Universities and Engineering institutions all-over India participated in the Google Ambassador Program selection process and only 177 students were finally selected, said Garima. Excited about her new role as a student ambassador, Garima added that the mentoring provided by
training and placement cell at CU-Gharuan has helped and motivated her to take part in Google initiative and crack the process.

Working among the brightest minds among the country and learning new concepts & technology like Design thinking to android, cloud computing and Digital marketing is the main attraction of being member of this Google initiative claimed Garima. Besides acting as a liaison between Google and University, she will focus on skill development and mentoring of her junior students at University that will open gates of employment for students besides making them learn new technologies. 


Congratulating Garima on her success, Dr. R.S.Bawa, Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University said that once again it has been proved that not only students from IIT’s and NIT’s can excel in such honored competitions like Google Student Ambassador campaign, but students from other universities and institutions, if given proper training and motivation can prove their mettle.

9 Engineering courses at Chandigarh University get ABET accreditation

 Chandigarh University now has the highest number of ABET accredited engineering courses among private universities in the country Chandigarh University (CU), Gharuan, has earned the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) recognition for its nine engineering programmes. Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu claimed that CU now has the highest number of ABET accredited engineering courses among private universities in the country. Honorable Chancellor, S. Satnam Singh Sandhu added that ABET, a premier global accreditation organisation for engineering and engineering technology programmes, is considered as evidence of an engineering programme’s standards.
