Alumni Success Story - CSE Engineering

Chandigarh University: Alumni Stories
Pranav Mahajan -
It all started when after my 12th,  I was looking for an institute where I can pursue Computer Science Engineering having a world class curriculum along with decent placement opportunities. I found ChandigarhUniversity,  a student of batch 2012-16. I learnt all the trending technologies that were there in the market which helped me to secure 3 offers from the institute i.e. in Wipro Limited, Cognizant Technology Solutions and Tech Mahindra.

Joined Wipro Limited as an Associate Consultant – SAP ABAP. Worked for 2 years as an effective team player in resolving various issues in Roll-Out. The journey did not stop here, cracked Symbiosis National Aptitude Test – SNAP and currently serving as a part of Placement Advisory Committee at Symbiosis Centre For Information Technology. In addition to it, I did my internship in one of the Big 4’s Consulting firms - KPMG India.

It has been rightly said in order to achieve your future endeavour, it’s very important to lay a very strong foundation. Chandigarh University acted as the foundation that helped me to burn the mid night oil and brought the best out of me.

Alumni Success Story Big Data Analyst

Alumni, Chandigarh University

I belong to Jorhat, Assam where I was born and brought up till my graduation. I passed my Matriculation from Springdale High School, Jorhat and 10+2 from Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Jorhat followed by graduation in B.Sc(IT) from Jorhat Institute of Science & Technology.

I was always an average student with not so good marks in 10 and 10+2. Physics of 10+2 was like a nightmare to me and eventually, I didn’t opt for BTech because of Physics and Mathematics. However, I always had a deep interest in Computer Science, especially in Programming & Databases.

During my graduation days, I have taught a number of students and professionals about various subjects of Computer Science and used to build a lot of desktop based and web-applications which actually gave me a good hands-on in Programming.

After my graduation, I pursued M.Sc(IT) from a private university in Punjab but still felt the craving and had a passion to learn more. Also, the inner wish in me to be called as an Engineer led me into Chandigarh University where I got enrolled in Master of Engineering with specialization in Big Data & Analytics and fell into love with the Big Data ecosystem.

After the 1st year, I got selected in the campus drive of Nokia Software R&D (it was my first campus drive experience) and worked as an Intern over there for almost 1.2 years. Currently, I’m working as a Software Consultant at Knoldus Inc., where I mainly work in the field of Big Data.

My life has been a roller coaster ride with lots of ups and downs, but I always believed, “Winners are not people who never fail, but people who never quit”.

Always believe in yourself and have the passion and zeal to achieve what to aspire in life. Life is not easy, still you need to fight back like a champ every time. Losing is not an option.

Alumni success Story Senior Engineer Johnson Control

Chandigarh University is an educational institution that not only prepared me to face the future but shaped the future in my favor. It is a place for people who have dreams to achieve something big, something that is not accessible to everyone. In my view, Chandigarh University is a wonderful platform for young aspirants to fulfill their dreams. The faculty is kind, brilliant and available for guidance and discussions all the time.

Chandigarh University provides me the opportunity to explore my potential to pursue my dreams. I completed my B-tech in 2018 from the Electrical Engineering Department. Electrical Engineering Department is a paradigm to achieve goals. I had excel in academic as well as other co curricular activities which made me the strongest person and prepared me for the life ahead during my journey of four years at Chandigarh University, I have participated in various inter-university competitions and won many prizes and with the constant support of faculties of my department. With brilliantly aligned course structure, the CU has opened the door for getting lucrative jobs. I got placement in companies such as IBM and WIPRO and joined IBM and later on, I switch to Johnson Control. Presently I am working with Johnson Control, Gurgaon as Senior Engineer.

The four-year journey at Chandigarh University was the best and memorable days of my life. Taking admission in the Electrical Engineering program was the best decision of my life. I would recommend everyone to seek admission in any diversified discipline of CU, who has dreams to reach unknown heights and most importantly has the courage to dream big.

Alumni Success Story - Sumit Malik

“Dreams are to be dreamt with open eyes”

Having being highly inclined towards sports since my childhood I had always dreamt of representing my country INDIA, in any Sports domain. In that desire, I had played district level football representing my school. But, due to some circumstances, I had to inculcate my priorities and drop my sports for a certain time frame and join ARCHITECTURE, thinking that could be a favorable future for me as my brother was from the same field so it was easy for me to get the hold to the profession. ARCHITECTURE was fun as it happened to me by choice and I persued playing football as my hobby; as an extracurricular.

But nevertheless, fate had decided something grand and happening for me, YES!! In 2014 I joined ChandigarhUniversity and 2015 was the year when CU recently had introduced AMERICAN FOOTBALL to the university. And when the team was being set our coach Mr. Guri luckily had seen me playing and offered me a place in the team.
That day 'the lightning strike my head and I thought of achieving all my dreams to represent INDIA in sports' And I thought that this is it, this is the chance to redeem me. And, I said yes!!

But trust me the feeling was the mere opposite, I was happy but apart from that I knew It was going to be tough for me to be managing ARCHITECTURE and sports but being fierce I wanted to pursue my passion and so did I jumped into it without even thinking of what my hardships are going to pay me back.

So, it started with a straight YES !! and the training went on for 6 months and we won our 1st SILVER MEDAL for our university in 2nd ALL INDIA INTER-UNIVERSITY games 2015. So, it started off in 2015 to 2019, we were the champions in ALL INDIA -INTER UNIVERSITY GAMES AND OPEN NATIONAL GAMES.

So, In the short span of time, it was our team achieving the heights and now its time to build a National team to represent INDIA in CSIT  -  AMERICAN FOOTBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP held from July 2-7th in SPAIN.
It was my hard work and dedication that brought as a team member defeating several across INDIA and is one of the part of those lucky 23 people of our team.

We eventually, succeeded in achieving SILVER MEDAL for our country in CSIT-AMERICAN FOOTBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.

It was a moment of relief for me, on the personal level of all the hard work and training and also sacrificing a lot of things, It was a moment of pride and happiness.
Not leaving behind ARCHITECTURE, today  I am a licensed Architect and had cleared the degree with flying colors.
I want to THANK a lot to CHANDIGARH UNIVERSITY for giving me such OPPORTUNITY, FACULTY STAFF of UIA for always understanding me and helped me throughout my 5 years of Degree in every aspect of life.

In last if it inspired you, I would like to say:
                                                                                                              SUMIT MALIK

BCA Alumni Success Story

Failure is not the alternative to success. It’s something to be avoided, but it’s also only a temporary setback on a bigger, more significant course. Everybody encounters failure at one point or another. What truly matters is how you react to and learn from that failure.

That’s how this quote depicts my voyage to Deloitte. It all started from class X. It was a kind of failure to me then, getting horrendous grades was bizarre. I was devastated. Then the dilemma to choose the right career path flashed the very idea of changing stream that gave me a kick-off start. Took commerce in class XI, comprehending business and my efficiency with numbers added to my confidence which provoked me to opt commerce. Yet, the very confusion did not succumb and hence followed me till I finally decided to do BCA from Chandigarh University.

The passion for computers made me to hop from numbers to systems. I did not follow the conventional career path, say, doing, BBA, CA as I was a commerce guy in +2. My love for computers took off when I did certain certifications in languages like C and C++ before even entering college. I got enrolled in Chandigarh University and there I started learning new technologies. I attended several workshops conducted by University Institute of Computing (UIC) of CU. Some include Cyber Security, Android, Cloud computing and many more. My curiosity for cybersecurity made me get intensive training in this domain. Became (Certified Information Security Expert) C.I.S.E. To achieve this, I had to undergo a very hectic schedule, like post-college I used to attend evening training sessions (for about 6-7 months). Besides studying, I was a proactive student involved in various events like coordinated various Hackathons, organized lot of events. Highly supportive faculty of CU motivated me to try things out of the box. They were very helpful during my final year projects.

Then the most awaited period of my 3-year degree came when the placement season started. DELOITTE was the first one. I got it in one go. Bingo! Hence, the entire Chandigarh University journey helped to frame my personality and holds biggest credits to make me who I am today and still holding on to it.

Nilanjay Tiwai, CU Alumni Testimonial -
