Each and
everyone of us today is suffering from some or the other ailment whether
physical or psychological. In this stressful and over complicated world we
reside in today, stress seems to be unavoidable, leading to degradation of our
physical and mental health. We struggle everyday to keep our mind calm and our
peace intact. Amidst these psychologically fluctuating times, the need for Yoga
impounds and resounds for healthy body and mind. If you are looking for a
healthy being, YOGA IS THE ANSWER!
So what is
yoga? Originated in India, Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice
or discipline. In Vedic Sanskrit, yoga means "to add", "to
join", "to unite", or "to attach" in its most common
literal sense. A few minutes daily routine of breathing exercises, body
postures and meditation can work wonders in making us unite to our spiritual or
peaceful being. The essence of yoga is the union of mind, body and soul in
maintaining a balance of our being or existence, which we have forgotten in
these fast moving times. One of the primary philosophies of yoga is the
importance of breathing. It is that very breathing that sets our body and all
its functions in a harmonious rhythm and acts as a constant in making us unite
with our source.
Try close
your eyes for a few minutes, sit upright and concentrate on your breathing as
you inhale and exhale, you will instantly feel a little calmer. The asanas or
body postures, helps gaining our flexibility and healing our body from inside.
Different postures are meant for different healing purposes. Meditation, on the
other hand acts as getting back to where we came from. It has been practised by
sages and hermits in the ancient times to realise who they were and their
purpose of life. Few hours of meditation every day serves as igniting our soul
and gaining power to solve the question of WHO AM I?
Practising
yoga is not confined to any age. Practising yoga for students is very
beneficial. The younger generation is more vulnerable to the side affects of these
fast paced times westernization, technology outburst and a lot of other things
have made the younger generation very distractive with no aim in life.
Practising yoga helps in greater concentration, stress management and boosts
both physical and emotional well being. Also practising yoga from an early age
makes body both physically and mentally strong to deal with new challenges. It
further helps them to discover themselves and their abilities to take more
focussed decisions in life.
SO, Yoga is
like a holistic package for healthy mind, body and soul. A daily routine of
exercise, breathing and meditation can work wonders for the well-being of the
body. The more you practice, the more
aware you become of yourself and the surroundings. It opens the way to improved
concentration, coordination, reaction time, memory and well being.
So, for a healthy being lets adopt the yoga way!!
