Global IT giant Accenture selects 1172 at CU

Record selection in North India’s biggest placement drive

Leading IT giant Accenture created a new record by selecting record number of 1172 students during a joint campus placement drive at Chandigarh University. More than 4000 engineering students of 2014 passing-out 2014 batch from Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal Pardesh, UP, Rajasthan, J&K and NCR underwent the selection process that comprised of written test, group discussion and technical interview.


With the selection of 1172 students during a campus placement drive, Accenture has created a record in recruiting the biggest number of students in a single drive. Students of all streams of Engineering which included Computer Science, IT, Electronics & Communication, Electrical, Civil with 60% through-out in their academic career were eligible to participate in the drive.

 Expressing his satisfaction on the out-come of the Accenture placement drive, Dr. R.S.Bawa, Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University said that the year 2014 has been excellent both in terms of number of companies visiting CU as well as the package offered by them.  Engineering students of University Institute of Engineering (UIE) at Chandigarh University, Gharuan have created history as US based IT Multi-National Trilogy Software offering record salary package of Rs. 24 lakh. The placement record for 2014 passing-out batch itself got impressive with world’s leading IT company Microsoft offering a whopping pay package of Rs. 16 lakh to Engineering students, while India’s leading e-commerce Company Flipkart offering salary of Rs. 12.5 lakh during campus placements. Out of the total 113 Engineering sector companies visiting Chandigarh University for campus placements for 2014 passing out batch, 16 MNC’s offered pay-package of more than Rs. 5 lakh per annum. The average salary package for Engineering students of 2014 passing-out batch has touched Rs. 3.25 lakh.
