Yoga for Healthy Being

Each and everyone of us today is suffering from some or the other ailment whether physical or psychological. In this stressful and over complicated world we reside in today, stress seems to be unavoidable, leading to degradation of our physical and mental health. We struggle everyday to keep our mind calm and our peace intact. Amidst these psychologically fluctuating times, the need for Yoga impounds and resounds for healthy body and mind. If you are looking for a healthy being, YOGA IS THE ANSWER!

So what is yoga? Originated in India, Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice or discipline. In Vedic Sanskrit, yoga means "to add", "to join", "to unite", or "to attach" in its most common literal sense. A few minutes daily routine of breathing exercises, body postures and meditation can work wonders in making us unite to our spiritual or peaceful being. The essence of yoga is the union of mind, body and soul in maintaining a balance of our being or existence, which we have forgotten in these fast moving times. One of the primary philosophies of yoga is the importance of breathing. It is that very breathing that sets our body and all its functions in a harmonious rhythm and acts as a constant in making us unite with our source.

Try close your eyes for a few minutes, sit upright and concentrate on your breathing as you inhale and exhale, you will instantly feel a little calmer. The asanas or body postures, helps gaining our flexibility and healing our body from inside. Different postures are meant for different healing purposes. Meditation, on the other hand acts as getting back to where we came from. It has been practised by sages and hermits in the ancient times to realise who they were and their purpose of life. Few hours of meditation every day serves as igniting our soul and gaining power to solve the question of WHO AM I?

Practising yoga is not confined to any age. Practising yoga for students is very beneficial. The younger generation is more vulnerable to the side affects of these fast paced times westernization, technology outburst and a lot of other things have made the younger generation very distractive with no aim in life. Practising yoga helps in greater concentration, stress management and boosts both physical and emotional well being. Also practising yoga from an early age makes body both physically and mentally strong to deal with new challenges. It further helps them to discover themselves and their abilities to take more focussed decisions in life.

SO, Yoga is like a holistic package for healthy mind, body and soul. A daily routine of exercise, breathing and meditation can work wonders for the well-being of the body.  The more you practice, the more aware you become of yourself and the surroundings. It opens the way to improved concentration, coordination, reaction time, memory and well being.

So, for a healthy being lets adopt the yoga way!!

Engineering in Demand

Engineering has been, is and will be a very evolving career path.

Engineers are in demand
Even in a tough job market, statistics show that engineers are in demand. Within six months of finishing university, 85% of engineering graduates go into paid work or further study.

This employability is set to continue as there is a looming demand for engineering skills. Our country needs to almost double the number of qualified engineers we produce between 2010 and 2020 to meet the requirements of the industry – from around 46,000 per year currently to 87,000 in 2020. A large increase in the number of apprentices is also needed. Over the course of this decade, those with engineering skills and qualifications will be well placed to get jobs – engineering companies are predicted to have 1.86 million job openings requiring engineering skills.

There are a variety of routes into an engineering career. From Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Computers this field of study also encompasses new and emerging fields of study that re in high demands like Mechatronics, Aerospace, petroleum and many more.
It’s not just for graduates. Advanced/Modern Apprenticeships are an expanding and popular route into engineering, combining study with employment to achieve technical certificates. Students can also move into the industry after studying a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma, HND or Advanced Diploma.

 Great salary
Engineers are very well paid. Engineering graduates will also earn over 30% more in their working lifetime than the average graduate. Also, with new developments and new technologies their demand is rising and so are their pay packages.

Careers in engineering are typically in high demand and offer stable work environments and salaries. Individuals pursuing engineering should complete a Bachelors degree in the particular engineering field of interest and may benefit from summer internships in the field. Engineers can expect to work typical hours Mondays to Fridays in office settings, laboratories, manufacturing plants, construction sites and other areas on-site of services offered. Individuals pursuing a career in engineering should be highly analytical, able to problem solve and absorb large quantities of information.

Big Data will create Big Jobs by Year 2020

A kick start for another era in computer industry with no turning back

Looking for something new and more interesting in Computer Science? Consider the revolutionary Big Data & Data Analytics– the revolutionary spree that IT companies may recruit in people by 2020, says the popular International magazine Forbes. The future workplace is surely going to be transformed by this Big Data revolution.

SO Why is it a Revolution?

We are in a technology oriented era. Companies need teams a fifth the size of those needed to do equivalent work 20 years ago. In 2014 Google, one of the big data giants, had 53,500 employees – a fraction of traditionalist IBM's 380,000 employees in that same year. The corporations' difference of revenue – $66 billion for Google, $93 billion for IBM – does not justify the difference in the size of their workforces. Thus, there is a growing demand of skills on big data and analytics mixed with business and management education. Consulting firm McKinsey estimates that India alone would need 2 lacs data scientists in the next few years, whereas US would require 20 lacs Big Data professionals in next 4 years. Chandigarh University offers a unique opportunity to students who wish to undertake Computer Science Engineering at UG/PG level with specialization in Big Data & Data Analytics for which Admission 2015 has started.

Reason for Increase in Demand for Big Data Experts in coming years

BIG Data BIG Jobs

The rate of explosion of data from India will be double that of the world average in coming years. With the rising popularity of big data, firms dealing in Insurance, Banking, Travel & Tourism Industry would require more & more data analytics professionals and data scientists to create a competitive edge.

India will remain the preferred destination for Big Data & analytics outsourcing compared with the Philippines and China. Unlike BPOs, analytics requires are not easily available in those countries. India’s analytics talent pool will be in high demand because of their process expertise and English language proficiency which means that passing out engineers in the field of Big Data from India would have plenty of job opportunities. Salaries in the analytics industry have been increasing faster than the average for the last 10 years. This trend will continue in 2014 as well.

Entry level salary

The entry level annual salary for data analytics professional is Rs. 6-9 lacs while it is Rs. 5-8 lacs for big data professionals. These could be higher depending on experience and skills, the academy said.
India is poised to surpass US in terms of number of Internet users and with a rapid penetration of mobile devices, we can expect huge demand in the sectors such as Internet, mobile application development, social and digital media experts, he said.

Chandigarh University, in collaboration with IBM, has become the first university in North India to design a program in Big Data for engineering students and professionals. The program is designed under the guidance of IBM, and encapsulates all the required skill based learning required for this booming sector.
